The Mustard SeedBy Derek John Thomas / September 20, 2024 The mustard seed (in the original Greek: σινάπι [sinapi]) is used a few times in the Christian Bible as a metaphor for both faith and the Kingdom of Heaven. It is a very small seed, perhaps one of the smallest, but it grows to be a very large shrub up to 9 feet (almost 3 meters) tall. Another characteristic of the mustard seed is that it isn’t particularly picky about the quality of the soil it grows in. Though it is a useful plant, it grows like a weed. While the growth rate of the mustard seed might be comparatively swift, the course of the development of our transformation seems to be quite long, but it still begins with a small seed that asks to be nurtured and nourished. The mustard seed isn’t very particular about where it grows, and I think the transition and change that are possible for us is equally unconcerned about where it is we are at this moment. Whether we feel like we are trapped in a prison of our own making or we are living the high life, free as a bird that might come to rest in a mustard shrub, we are at exactly the right place and time for our transformation to begin. It might not be quick but it can start here and now. If you are ready for your evolution, this is probably the video for you.
